Notes Shanghai: Exploring the Future of Perfumery in China

Camille Blaizot (Chief Regional Officer Asia) had the opportunity to attend Notes Shanghai (2-5 April), a rapidly growing fragrance event held biannually. Notes Shanghai has quickly become Asia’s leading event dedicated entirely to perfumery, and is now firmly positioned on our fragrance calendar.

Camille discovered a new wave of incredibly exciting Chinese brands, including Loivie, alongside a strong French presence throughout the show. For PCW, the event is about building partnerships, creating opportunities, and staying closely aligned with future developments in the industry.

From a PCW perspective, several key trends stood out:

1. The Rise of Chinese Niche Brands

Local brands are no longer emerging, they are performing very well on formulation, storytelling, and design.

2. East Meets West is No Longer a Theme, It’s A Reality

Collaboration and cross-cultural inspiration are happening in real time.

3. Fragrance Opportunities are Expanding

With many fragrance companies, international distributors, retailers, press and content creators attending, the show remains an important touchpoint for education and growing partnerships into China.

“What stood out to me at Notes Shanghai was the creativity and confidence of the brands we met. The Chinese fragrance market is evolving rapidly, and at PCW, we’re passionate about supporting this kind of energy with our fragrance expertise, helping bring ideas to life and connecting them to the wider global market.” (Camille Blaizot)

We remain close to this fast moving market with our new office in Hong Kong, and will be participating in future events in the region.
